The inspiration of this dress came from a child's shoe. As curious as it sounds, the bodice's shape echoes that of a boy's dress shoes without the laces. If in fact this gown was a shoe, the laces would criss-cross down the two front outer layers of the bodice.

"I was looking at an friend's wedding pictures when I saw the picture of the little ring boy's shoes. It hit me out of no where and I pulled out a paper and sketched it in less than five minutes," recalls Jorge Manuel.

The "shoe dress" took shape only after several changes had to be made in order to structurally make the design possible. The end result is a gorgeous dress made for the traditional and timeless bride. How's that for a "foot-in-the-door," since a foot is the only part of Alice that would actually fit through the door in this scene.
