Jorge Manuel is proud to introduce his Nebula Collection, a collection inspired by the stars. “It is not futuristic, per se,’ explains Jorge Manuel.” “It is, however, dealing with the future of bridal, a future available now, with this collection, to the most discerning of brides.”

For centuries, people have marveled in awe at the stars in the night sky. Some have mapped the stars for direction in navigation. Many others used stars and the patterns they made across the sky to tell stories, oral traditions that would be passed down through the generations. Still, others looked to the stars for inspiration or simply to make a wish.

In his most incredible collection yet, Jorge Manuel captures the intoxicating combination of power and wonder stars have inspired for centuries. Each dress is hand crafted with precision, exquisite workmanship and designed with purpose to reflect the essence of each constellation. Silk Shantung trumpet strapless gown with ornate bodice and skirt encrusted with lined bias and Silk Satin sash at waist. Hem is heavily pleated in Silk satin. Floral detail at bodice is lined in circular bias strips and hand-embroidered in crystals. Shown in Pearl color.

The VOLANS (“flying fish”) constellation inspired this namesake gown. When researching for this collection, the designer was amazed by the unique beauty and graceful lines of this fish. A particular image, one in which a specimen of these unique fish is ascending from the water in what seems like preparation for flight, gave inspiration for a free-sketch and ultimately, the Volans gown. The gown’s curving hem represents the water in the image and the lines on the bodice represent, in an abstract, the fish and its ethereal “wings.”

The VOLANS constellations can be seen in the Southern sky. Its name means “flying fish,” shortened from its original name “Volans Piscis.” It was first depicted in a celestial atlas by Johann Bayer in 1603. The painting of the constellation can be seen in many art works and referenced from the Uranometria, a star atlas, created by Bayer.
