For centuries, people have marveled in awe at the stars in the night sky. Some have mapped the stars for direction in navigation. Many others used stars and the patterns they made across the sky to tell stories, oral traditions that would be passed down through the generations. Still, others looked to the stars for inspiration or simply to make a wish.

In his most incredible collection yet, Jorge Manuel captures the intoxicating combination of power and wonder stars have inspired for centuries. Each dress is hand crafted with precision, exquisite workmanship and designed with purpose to reflect the essence of each constellation. The ERIDANUS is perhaps one of the most imaginative designs in the collection. The constellation ERIDANUS, meaning river, took the designer through an exciting creative journey. As a child, the designer remembers tossing stones out on the water and watching the concentric water circles created as an effect. The circular effect of the waves is translated into poetic form unto the incredibly beautiful ERIDANUS gown.

The ERIDANUS, the sixth largest of the modern constellations, means “river” in Greek. In Greek mythology, the river comes to be because of the inspiring story of a son, Phaeton, who desired to drive the Sun across the sky in his father’s sky chariot. Because he could not control the chariot, however, he would be struck down by Zeus’s thunderbolt. The river is formed by Phaeton’s sister’s tears as she mourned the death of her brother, showing the power of love and speaks to the vulnerability created by loss.
